The Game:
VEX V5 Robotics Competition Override is played on a 12’ x 12’ square field configured as seen above. Two (2) Alliances – one (1) “red” and one (1) “blue” – composed of two (2) Teams each, compete in matches consisting of a fifteen (15) second Autonomous Period, followed by a one minute and forty-five second (1:45) Driver Controlled Period.
The object of the game is to attain a higher score than the opposing Alliance by stacking Pins and Cups on Goals, setting Toggles to your Alliance color, and ending the Match with your Robot in the contested Midfield.
The Details:
There are fifty-six (56) Cups and sixty-three (63) Pins on a V5RC Override Field.
There are nine (9) Goals located around the field. Four (4) neutral Short Goals, one neutral (1) Tall Goal, two (2) red Alliance Goals and two (2) blue Alliance Goals. There also four (4) Toggles located at the center of each Field wall. Finally, there are four (4) Loaders adjacent to each Alliance Station.
Each Alliance-color Pin scored in a Goal is worth five (5) points. However, a yellow Pin scored in a Goal is worth ten (10) points for whichever Alliance owns the Toggle in the respective Quadrant.
Alliances can receive additional points for ending the Match in the Midfield.
The Alliance that scores more points in the Autonomous period is awarded with twelve (12) bonus points, added to the final score at the end of the match. Each Alliance also has the opportunity to earn an Autonomous Win Point by completing assigned tasks. This additional Win Point can be earned by both Alliances, regardless of who wins the Autonomous Bonus
